Summary
Both Amanita phalloides and Amanita muscaria are invasive. The idea of “invasive mushrooms” is new, and for the moment we focus on pattern: where did the fungi come from, where are they now? But in this talk I’d like to move us beyond pattern to understand mechanism: what tools do mushrooms use to spread?

"I am a mycologist and was educated at the University of Chicago and Duke University. After completing postdoctoral training at the University of California, Berkeley, I began my independent career at Harvard University. I am now the Mary Herman Rubinstein Professor of Biology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and my laboratory focuses on understanding the ecology and evolution of fungi."
